S410 -Day #30

Starter for Ten - May 5th 2023

The last day of the challenge! I woke up knowing I wanted to write about what the process of this challenge meant to me and express gratitude to the people who have supported me and followed the journey.

Ten minutes of free writing.

Ten minutes wasn’t enough to express it exactly the way I wanted to. For some reason, I signed it at the end the way I would a letter or a card, which instantly made me think a letter would have been a better idea. That’s been the beauty of this exercise, one idea leads to another. It makes me think of one of my favourite quotes:

"There are no bad ideas, Lemon – only great ideas that go horribly wrong."
- Jack Donaghy, 30 Rock

Ten minute sketch - red posca pen and black felt tip

Feeling the love for the process and the people who supported me (that includes you if you are reading this!). I returned to my favourite creative exercise where I take a shape and explore how many things I can turn it into in ten minutes. I chose a heart which was harder than I expected but fun!

Now the challenge is complete I am going to have a weekend off and take some time to reflect. I will share my learnings in a future post and keep experimenting. Stay tuned.

Starter for Ten (S410) is a daily creative exercise that I will do for the next 30 days. I set a ten-minute timer and write whatever comes into my head. After that I do the same to create a visual. The idea is to loosen up, create daily and get over the idea that everything I make needs to be perfect or have a purpose.

I will document the process here on this site and on my Instagram stories. Photos will be unedited to keep it real. This challenge both terrifies and excites me, let’s see what happens.
