S410 -Day #6

Starter for Ten - April 11th 2023

10 minutes of free writing

It’s interesting starting with a blank page and seeing what comes out when you start writing. Some days it feels easier than others, this morning this just flowed in the ten minutes.

Initial sketch for ten minute visual

This morning I woke up worrying that sharing the process of this challenge is self-indulgent and then another voice in my head said please yourself, no-one cares. I went with that for inspiration for today’s visual.

I made the first word too big and ran out of room so I adapted it from my intial idea/sketch. It’s not perfect, the letters in ‘please’ gradually get bigger and the edges are wonky as I rushed to complete it in ten minutes, but I like the imperfections, it gives it personality and a vibe.

Please Yo Self poster

I like the phrase ‘Please Yo Self’ I could develop this into something further. Day six makes the wall.

Starter for Ten (S410) is a daily creative exercise that I will do for the next 30 days. I set a ten-minute timer and write whatever comes into my head. After that I do the same to create a visual. The idea is to loosen up, create daily and get over the idea that everything I make needs to be perfect or have a purpose.

I will document the process here on this site and on my Instagram stories. Photos will be unedited to keep it real. This challenge both terrifies and excites me, let’s see what happens.
