Sunday post #03
One of the most exciting parts of being a designer is seeing ideas come to life in the real world. This week I was on site to oversee the installation and fit of graphics and signage VS+YO created as part of a rebrand.
Work in progress: The installation of the branded graphics for a Nursery, more to come on this project via VS+YO.
It was inspiring to learn how everything we designed was made, fitted, and applied. If you are having graphics designed for your space here are some useful tips:
Measure, check and measure again
Look for anything on walls that might obstruct vinyls and include them in your drawings and plans eg. plug sockets and light switches
Make sure lights are designed to be placed near plug sockets
Have access to wall paint for touch-ups
Be prepared to adapt and problem-solve on the day.
Making it look easy: application of a vinyl to the wall.
Back in the studio, we worked on:
Project planning for applying new brand design to a client’s existing branded materials, both for internal use and external marketing
Branded PowerPoint template design
Design system for styling infographics for handover to a client’s internal design team
Go outside challenge
This week kicked off with cold and icy weather, not my favourite, and I think would have failed to go outside every day if I hadn’t set the challenge to make it a priority.
Vicki and I made time for walks during work when the sun came out, it’s amazing the ideas you have when you get out of your normal space and walk.
If you live near Glasgow and haven’t been to Hogganfield (where the Nursery we are working on is located) it has a beautiful small loch to walk around and lots of birds to spot.
