S410 -Day #24

Starter for Ten - April 29th 2023

It’s the end stretch of the creative challenge, only six days left to go. It’s not been easy to make it happen, Saturdays have been the hardest and I’m looking forward to having a weekend off.

Taking a Saturday off made me think of the tv show Eastenders which inspired today's freewriting. When I was a teenager the soap opera used to air every day of the week except for a Saturday and there was no on-demand. I had friends that were devoted to the show, I never understood it as I found it depressing that the characters had such bad luck and so many secrets.

Ten minutes of free writing.

Ten minute sketch: oil pastels

Before you get excited and think I have finally convinced my husband to get a cat this sketch is of a beautiful sculpture gifted to me by my design partner Vicki. I didn’t quite capture what it looks like in real life but I think the sketch has a nice feeling.

Starter for Ten (S410) is a daily creative exercise that I will do for the next 30 days. I set a ten-minute timer and write whatever comes into my head. After that I do the same to create a visual. The idea is to loosen up, create daily and get over the idea that everything I make needs to be perfect or have a purpose.

I will document the process here on this site and on my Instagram stories. Photos will be unedited to keep it real. This challenge both terrifies and excites me, let’s see what happens.
