Post it note with text Take one small step today

Life has been full lately so I’ve been finding it hard to prioritise time for writing. The past two weeks have been challenging. I have had highs, I climbed the UK’s tallest mountain - Ben Nevis, I celebrated 500 days alcohol-free and I met some amazing new people through VS+YO. And then the lows, someone I love is on life support.

I didn’t know if I should write any of this here, this is supposed to be about my work but being a designer all of my experiences feed directly into what I create.

When looking through my camera for a visual for this post I came across this note I made on 21st April. Take one small step today - when I wrote it I was feeling overwhelmed by everything I want to achieve at work in the future - it was a reminder to simplify and focus on the present.

I also used this advice on the mountain, when I thought I was at the top and wasn’t (twice!) I just thought to myself ‘Take one more step’. I continued to remind myself of that until I was at the top. And then the bottom.

I’m also using this concept to remain present when thinking of my family member who is on life support, we are here now. Stay present. Show love. Tomorrow I will try to do the same.

In the studio

We have had our heads down at VS+YO this week creating brand identity visuals and rationale for a board presentation for a team to get approval on the new design direction for the company. We also spent the day with a CEO to explore what design looks like within their company for the next two to five years. Loving work right now.

Yoshan update

I’ll let you in on a secret, Shan and I are developing card games, we have no idea what we are doing but we are loving it. We met with a games expert last week to learn more about the games industry and to get feedback on our games. I can’t wait to share more with you on this soon.
