Sunday post #18

One of our clients gifted us a set of Diary of a CEO conversation cards this week. It gave Vicki and I a great opportunity to reflect on our design business together.

The first card we chose asked ‘What is one belief or behaviour that has positively impacted your life in the last 12 months?’

Easy. We both had the same answer. Exercising every day.

We have both been putting our health first for the last 12 months. It has had a huge impact on the way we look, feel, and think. And this feeds into our work life and creativity.

Behaviour change - my priorities before and after

Exercise is now a daily, non-negotiable for me. I started a year-long, go-outside challenge in January which has me walking daily. I’m strength training and in the gym most days before work, often with Vicki. The gym is becoming our second studio and we often have our best ideas there.

Pre-work work-out

It’s not easy. Every day brings a new challenge, a heavier weight, a new exercise, or a moment of self-doubt. But I focus on showing up and every day is progress.

Putting exercise first is making me happier, stronger, and more creative. I’m calmer and better equipped to deal with whatever the day throws at me. It enables me to keep showing up.

The Diary of a CEO not only prompted a great conversation between Vicki and I, the new episode of their podcast with Dr Wendy Suzuki backs up how important exercise is for your brain and health.

In the studio

Another full week of design, we started new projects and relationships with clients at VS+YO. Excited to be working on brand design of two events in the coming months. Working on events always give me lots of energy.
